While enjoying an anniversary meal at our favourite local tapas restaurant in Bournemouth, an elderly couple who must have been in their early eighties at least, slowly made their way in, and were shown to a window table in the sunny conservatory. The young and handsome spanish waiter gave them their menus, and the man ordered two small glasses of red wine whilst they looked at what was on offer. We weren't obviously staring at them, and were a little concealed behind some plants, but were enthralled by the love between them. If only glanced at, one would probably see two old people, working through a meal with difficulty, in silence, as many people often do. These two however, when watched with prying eyes, showed a little more. Obviously feeling the warmth from the sun through the window, they silently smiled at one another, and with a knowledge that only years of love can bring, without uttering a word, simultaneously removed their coats and jumpers, to let the warmth closer. Very little was said between them during that meal. A little toast was made between them, they occasionally fed each other some titbits from their own dish with hands that now trembled. When wordless expressions passed between them, their eyes would sparkle with the love and passion of youth. Our own anniversary meal was made all the more rich for having witnessed them, and I so wish them well, even though we don't know each other, and never will.

Precious and what a gift they gave you and Amanda on your anniversary. I would be like you constantly watching them, mesmerized by their older love. thanks much for sharing this~ Gina
